Istruzione:

Che tipo di governo ha il tuo paese? (What government does your country have?)
Esiste una famiglia reale nel tuo paese? (Does there exist a royal family in your country?)
Sei andato nell'esercito? (Did you go to the army?)
Quando sono le elezioni? (When are the elections?)

Example phrases:

Il 7 luglio abbiamo votato per un nuovo presidente e governo.

The 7th of july we voted for a new president and government.

Il re è il capo dello stato.

The king is the head of the state.

L'ultimo governo era composto da 3 partiti politici.

The last government consisted out of 3 political parties.

Il governo è controllato dal parlamento e dai giudici.

The government is controlled by the parliament and judges.

Ho dovuto andare nell'esercito proprio come tutti i miei amici.

I had to go to the army just like all my friends.

Non sono andato al servizio militare, ma ho lavorato per un anno in un'organizzazione sociale.

I did not go to the army but I worked in a social organisation for a year instead.

Il primo ministro è cambiato dalle ultime elezioni.

The prime minister changed since the last elections.

He is the head of state and represents national unity.

Anch’io! La Costituzione stabilisce come funziona il governo.

Me too! The Constitution establishes how the government works.

Il Parlamento ha un ruolo centrale perché legifera e controlla il governo.

The Parliament has a central role because it legislates and controls the government.

È il capo del governo e guida l’esecutivo.

He is the head of government and leads the executive.

La inserisci nell’urna che è lì vicino alla porta.

Exercise 4: Election Day at Work

Instruction:

Ieri (Andare - Passato prossimo) al seggio elettorale vicino all'ufficio. Appena (Arrivare - Passato prossimo) , ho visto molti colleghi che (Votare - Passato prossimo) prima di me. Mentre aspettavo, Luca mi ha chiesto se (Capire - Passato prossimo) tutto sul voto elettronico. Gli ho risposto che sì, (Seguire - Passato prossimo) le istruzioni con attenzione. Dopo (Essere - Presente) votato, siamo andati insieme al bar e abbiamo parlato delle elezioni. Luca mi ha detto che la democrazia (Essere - Presente) per tutti noi.

Yesterday I went to the polling station near the office. As soon as I arrived , I saw many colleagues who had voted before me. While I was waiting, Luca asked me if I understood everything about electronic voting. I answered him yes, I followed the instructions carefully. After voting, we went together to the bar and talked about the elections. Luca told me that democracy is important for all of us.
